Athena and Euripides corner in Athens

Athens is magical for me...
I spend my happiest moments when i walk around its traditional streets a habit that fills me up with such an positive energy, which i can hardly describe with common words. But it feels real, like this hapiness is tangible. It is light, warmth, pulse, familiar smells, sounds and tastes, all at once.
Sometimes i tend to stay still on Evripidi and Athenas corner, among people carrying plastic bags and horn sounds from the cars passing by. So i stay there and observe this motionless movement of people which gives you the impression of an eternal move.
I love to do my shopping in the nearby shops. You can find anything you wish! All well-wrapped with a few layers of dust and nostalgy for the older Athens and well promoted by people with whom I can communicate perfectly.
From this crossroads i start walking and I know I will go to Evripidou str for stationery, or i will go towards Omonia square for food, or Monastiraki str for tools, and to Koumoundourou str for spices and glassware.
I know that whatever I'm looking for i will find it, on my own or with the help of shop owners who encourage me to try different places to meet my desires.
Always with a Thessalonikian koulouri in hand for breakfast and with an upper target to have a glass of tsipouro in the hidden cafes of the area. I usually end up at the "Spot of Agathon," on Agathon str.
In the downtown market of Athens i have my best trips!
Don't fool yourself... the reason this place is my favorite, is not because i want to do my shopping but because it is an excuse to dive into this magical and beloved world.
