Our previous visit to Pelion (read here) included essentially Tsagarada, Milies, Vizitsa and Mylopotamos villages, so this time we decided to explore the adjacent part of the wonderful land of Pelion. We set our base at the beautiful Damouchari village and visited the nearby villages and beaches to enjoye the beauty introduced to us by Apostolos the head of Pelion Secrets.

Damouchari

A great place, with old buildings and a fantastic view to the traditional fishing village. A walking tour in all the streets of Damouchari pulled out hidden beauties and led us hunting and gathering Sea Fennel and caper from the rocks. The beach of Damouchari is fine and pebbled and from there starts the famous stone path that connects Damouchari with Fakistra, in which you can navigate to reach the beach Fakistras for a swim.

You can stay:

Mouresi

Mouresi is another beautiful village of East Pelion, closer to the mountain, with access to the beach of Damouchari in 15 minutes by car. Our favorite part is the square of Mouresi with the nice tavern under the plane trees, its traditional church and a fantastic view of the Aegean.

You can stay at:

You can eat at :

  • The restaurant “Plateia”
  • The tavern of Vangelis, for grilled chops and other delicacies

Papa Nero

Just next to Damouchari, twenty minutes walk and below Mouresi, Papa Nero is famous for the beach and camping site with tall plane trees below of which tourists forget all their worries.

Agios Ioannis

Right next to Papa Nero, one will find the village of Agios Ioannis, which is very crowded with tourists. We do not recommend to stay there for long time, better to load up with goodies from the local mini market and head to Plaka beach, which you will find at the end of the port. Leave your car at the end of the pier and then follow the rocks to get to the exotic beach of Plaka. Happy diving!

Kissos

One of the most beautiful villages with locals to stay there all year long and a sense of a real village, in Kissos found many restaurants with delicacies, the church of Saint Marina with carved iconostasis of the 17th century frescoes by Ioannis Pagonis. Next to the church you will find a nice cafe-bar of the few that work and offer nightlife in East Pelion. Since 1753, in Kissos functioned greek school, where among other things served briefly as a teacher, Rigas Fereos.

You can eat at:

  • The tavern “5 Φ”.
  • The tavern "Synantisis"

Have a drink:

  • In Cafe-Bar "To Scholarheon", owner of which is our new friend Vasilis.
