We arrived at Kapesovo late in the afternoon, having traveled many miles since the start of the day, due to our will to see as much as possible during our visit in Zagoria .
Although the village is one of the smallest of Zagoria it is one of the most beautiful and best preserved in the region, whose correct orientation and altitude makes it a unique tourist destination. An original sample of Zagori architecture, Kapesovo is a preserved historic settlement that surprised and impressed us during our first visit.
There, under a very old tree in the square of the village, is housed the "Sterna" a small café and dessert shop, which seems to be coming from the pages of a fairy tale. The shop is named after the cistern which was built in 1848 right in the center of the village, iin order to collect rainwater within its 13 meter walls.
We sat in the shop to enjoy a coffee, but you can also order homemade lemonade or sour cherry juice, tea, liquor, and accompany them with a wide variety of traditional desserts of any kind!
The Soul of this dessert shop was hostess Anna, who treated us with over six kinds of handmade liqueur, made by her, in order to choose our favorite and buy it. Believe me, the choice was very hard, having to choose between liqueurs chanterelles (mushrooms), coffee with orange, cranberry, lemon balm, mint and walnut.
Since the liquer tasting didn't last for long it we sat at one of the tables under the plane tree to eat a cake that looked like an orange pie but tasted like heaven.
While leaving, the only thought in our minds was going back to Kapesovo in order to have more time to explore every corner and try and more of the delicacies of " Sterna ".
