A beautiful autumn evening, team alternatrips directed decisively towards the village Aristi, one of the most visited villages of Zagoria. We were expected by our hosts to Gamila Rocks, and since the sun was setting behind the mountains we hurried to take the last turn to the village and face the beautiful sight. The peaks of Astraka were painted in color red from the the sun's last rays leaving us with an open mouth, because nature here is unique at all times. We looked for the signs to the village looking for something that says Gamila Rocks and reaching the square, turn down the road that leads to Papigo. A few pomegranates further we reached our destination.
One big arched door leads to the lobby of our guesthouse. We are entering a country style tale with bookcases and couches to rest and read about the area and a beautiful fireplace burning unceasingly. The decor is crafted to detail and objects of space indicate owners of individual taste.
Aristotle, the owner of Gamila Rocks, comes to welcome us with a tray in his hands and mint liquor, made with traditional rake. "How long do you live here Aristotle?" I ask him, "I live here all year, summer, winter, spring, autumn and enjoy all seasons. When not working i collect herbs and mint, go up and down at Vicos Gorge, dive into the river and discover places that are not easy to be found. " Aristotle is becoming an aspiring alternatriper and begins to reveal the secrets of his region.
After this break of mint flavor and a lot of information, we head to our room, a small room with fluffy bed and stylish details and a huge bathroom which we loved and spent several hours trying bath olive products, bathrobes and slippers. From the library of the hostel we chose two books about the area and we spent the rest of the evening planning for the next day.
The sun woke us up in the morning when the windows still had their morning humidity. We equipped with our sports, our cameras and our notes we went down to the breakfast area. The Gamila Rocks is famous for its breakfast and is a member of greekbreakfast.gr. Homemade jams, local honey, fresh traditional bread, cheeses, meats, vegetables, eggs, omelets, pastries, cakes and of course legendary pies of Zagori, as this kasopita I ate from the hands of the cook. Great way to start your day
The Gamila Rocks has one very important advantage. Aristi village being among Papigo and eastern Zagori, developed into a hub dash in all directions and evolved into a village with beautiful houses, taverns, restaurants and bars. It has everything and invites you to visit soon.
