Welcome to Vlichos beach, Hydra

Hydra is a very special island and very different compared to the rest of the Greek island because cars are prohibited and the only way to move across the island is by donkeys!

Another interesting thing about it, is the scenery. It combines mountain and beach holidays, as there are lots of paths you can hick and many beaches you can enjoy crystal clear water.

My most favorite beach is "Vlihos" and you can get there by land or by the sea. At Vlihos you will find an organised beach with grey sand and deep blue water and the Church of Saint Charalampos at the top of a rock.

Around Vlihos beach you can enjoy some traditional taverns and taste their delicious local food. I suggest that!

If you really like this place as i do, you could stay at any of the traditional white houses that accomodate locals and travellers.

The access to the beach is easy. Starting from the port you can walk by the seaside road for about 40-45 minutes, or take a boat-taxi or just rent your own boat for the day.

Η πρόσβαση στην παραλία είναι πολύ εύκολη με τα πόδια από το λιμάνι ακολουθώντας τον παραλιακό δρόμο (40-45 λεπτά περίπου), με θαλάσσιο ταξί και με μισθωμένο ή δικό σας σκάφος.

I really enjoy this beach this is why i tend to lay there for hours, usually morning to night. Especially during the noon hours the water is getting hot and even more clear and during the evening hours when the sun is about to set, the sea is so calm that makes you feel absolutely chilled and easy going.
