Lesvos has a mountain also called Olympos. Somewhere on Olympos there is the famous village of Agiasos.

A beautiful place, placed among the hills of Lesvos, with a great character and a jungle nature.

Agiasos Village is absolutely traditional and its architecture bases on 2-floor houses made of stone and painted by vivid colors, like red, green, blue, orange and violet.

It looks like a live painting.

While going up its stone-made narrow streets, we encountered the people of the village during their everyday chill and cats in the most amazing places.

You can find lots of cafes and taverns on your way up, designed with the traditional character of Agiaso village. If you observe you will see the centures and the conquerors of the island messing with Agiaso's architecture.

Agiasos has three (3) specialties: the Church of Saint Mary, the traditional crafts and its carnival.

First thing we did was to enter the Church, where we faced a big and beautiful yard, where painting lessons are often organised (amazing right?).

Second thing we did was to take millions of pictures of the very picturesque houses, impressed by theis design and colors. We used the wooden hand crafted doors as our frame and we also photographed the vintage door-hands which seemed really unique.

Third thing we did was to discover hidden narrows where the Lesvians are keeping their horses (see the pic). Yes they still use horses to hang around.

Forth thing we did was to check on the Agiaso's crafts: hand made wooden beds, ceramics and wefts the villagers are making all year long. I wish i could transfer them in my suitcase!

Agiasos is very attracting throughout the year. I happened to visit it during February when the Carnival is happening. Agiasos Carnival is very famous and the most enjoyable i had ever attended!
